At the heart of our character development program is the Student Oath. It is more than just words we recite; it is the moral compass that guides our actions both inside the Dojang and in our everyday lives. Our ultimate goal is to help every student become a person of integrity and strength. The oath is our shared promise to achieve this.
"I shall observe the Tenets of Taekwon-Do."
This is a promise to live by the five core principles: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit. It is the foundation of our character.
"I shall respect my Instructors and Seniors."
This teaches us to value knowledge, experience, and the leadership of those who guide us. This respect extends beyond the Dojang to teachers, parents, and community leaders.
"I shall never misuse Taekwon-Do."
This is a pledge to use our skills only for self-defence and to protect the weak. It is an understanding that true strength lies in compassion and control, not aggression.
"I shall be a champion of freedom and justice."
This calls on us to be upstanding citizens. It means standing up for what is right, defending those who cannot defend themselves, and acting with fairness and courage.
"I shall help build a more peaceful world."
This is the ultimate goal of our training. By becoming disciplined, respectful, and just individuals, we contribute positively to our families, our community in Blackfalds, and the world at large, one student at a time.
